Grocery Game Trip #1
The Groceries I Got During Week #1 of The Grocery Game
So I had a wonderful couple neighbors that came over and explained "The Grocery Game" to me. This is a photo of the groceries I was able to buy during my first week of being a member. Here are the numbers:
Total should have been: 197.16
What I paid: 88.61
What I saved: 108.55
I feel like for week number one, with no practice and only one weeks worth of coupons, that was a good trip to the store...actually two stores. One of the tricks to saving money in this game is to go to more than one store. This photo was two trips, one to Albertsons and one to Kroger.
I am so glad I had Darbie with me, or I would have been there longer...she pushed the basket and added up our total as we shopped but most importantly, I said what I was looking for and her amazing super speed processing saw the item in an average of less than 3 seconds. I love her processing speed and visual skills. If she were a super hero, her name today would have been Super Shopper. Her super power is Visual Speed!
I was mostly able to save this week based on specials and not as many coupons due to the fact that I only have one Sunday paper worth of coupons (just starting)....so subtract 3.00 for the paper from my savings and the grand total this week is 105.55....not bad for a couple hours work.
I have seen and heard stories more amazing than this amount saved, way more. I will post each week and hope that I can see my savings column get bigger.
"The Grocery Game" is free for one month so my plan is to use all the stores in my zip code area and look at their lists for 4 weeks. Choose my favorite one or two and pay for only those stores after the trial period is over. The total is 10 dollars for your first store and 5 dollars for each one after that for an 8 week period.
Also, during this month I am hoping to gather up as many coupons as possible, get quicker at making my lists and stream lining the process so that when summer vacation is over I am able to do this game quickly after work starts. Of course, Darbie has to go with me, she was a ton of help!
Thank you, Darbie!
If you are interested, I would love to pay it forward and once I understand the game, I would love to tutor you as well!
Happy Shopping, or should I say, Happy Saving!
I am so excited about this and feel very competitive about it already...wanting to beat my total each week.
Also, I was very adamant that I don't buy anything I wasn't already going to buy just because I had a coupon for it and guess what, I stuck to that goal 100%!!!
I needed cereal, so we got the one on sale that I had a coupon for. You can't be brand loyal...It's all about the sale and coupons together. I did that with snacks, chips, drinks etc.
I want to thank Dawn and Tanya for the tutorial and I want to thank Kristen for adding to my free groceries this week from her stockpile.

Carwash Fundraiser
Today the Drill Team is trying to raise money for their expenses. The fundraiser was perfect on this hot Texas day...a car wash!
Here is a shot of Darbie scrubbing and rinsing the cars. Let's just say, she is fast asleep on the couch right now and I am not sure but I think this is her once a year nap!

Is This Summer? Time for Tea?
I can't believe we are so far into the summer vacation. Where has the time gone? It's gone into organizing, spring (summer) cleaning and getting the to do list down to a manageable check off. It feels so good to get things done. Sometimes I write things I have done on the list, just so I can cross them off!
My next "project" is to have a documented day of photos of a day in the life of Darbie and myself.
I am going to take some fun photos of us doing daily things because to be honest....I think we forget about taking those kinds of photos and capturing the day to day things that you do, the real memories.
So the next post will hopefully be regular everyday photos of the normal things...
PJ's till 10, a drive to Sonic jamming to music I shouldn't even know at my age, watching T.V. (The Rangers to be exact), on the computer, chores etc...maybe and hopefully even a tea party...we use to have these together a lot and this tradition has gone by the wayside with busy schedules....but this summer it will be brought back to life as you are never out of age to do a tea party. Darbie and I use to do these when she was a wee little girl and I have not one photo of this anywhere...shame...but if you are a mother of a daughter it's never too early or too late to have a tea party with her. This is a tradition that is timeless...and as she ages she will never age out of a sip of hot tea and conversation...so start this tradition...it's worth it and take photos...one or two to share with her over tea 10 years later...promise it will be worth it!
